Margaret Fawley (nee Shatford) Evans, a resident of East Aurora, died peacefully on Monday, May 30, with her loving husband at her side. She was 94. Margaret was born to William and Mary (nee Taylor) Shatford on May 9, 1928 in Sale, England. She grew up with her sister Elizabeth (Bette) and brother Albert. Her life was full of love, laughter, and adventure. After surviving intense bombing during WWII she volunteered with a group of young people who traveled throughout Europe with the mission of rebuilding schools, farms, and hostels. After the volunteer camps, she continued traveling the world with Bette from Iceland to India to New Zealand to Australia and many places in between. They found interesting jobs at each location and always had fun. She loved to tell the story about shaking the hand of the King of Norway at the 1952 Winter Olympic games in Oslo. After traveling the world with her sister, Margaret settled in the United States and became a comptometer operator in Buffalo, NY. Shortly after her arrival, Margaret met her future husband, John Evans at a dance in Kenmore, NY. Along the way, they discovered RVing and were hooked for life. She loved getting away in their 1973 GMC motorhome to attend GMC rallies, visit friends and family, and escape to Florida for winters. She particularly enjoyed antique hunting at the annual antique car meet at Hershey, PA., where she loved haggling for a good deal. One of her favorite joys in life was her marathon backgammon and rummy sessions with her cherished sister-in-law, Megan. Her laugh and sharp wit will be greatly missed. Margaret was predeceased by her parents William and Mary (nee Taylor) Shatford, her sister Elizabeth Williams and brother Albert Shatford. She is survived by her husband John Evans; children Amy Evans and Morgan (Jessica) Evans; grandchildren Nicole (Matthew) Hordeski and Sarah Evans; great grandchildren Hunter, Gavin, and Rowan Hordeski.
