Mary Louise Goggin

Born July 17, 1940 in Washington DC, she was the daughter of the late John Francis and Pauline L. Hanley.

On September 7, 1968 she married John Goggin, who survives. Together they celebrated 51 years of marriage.

Mary was a 1957 graduate of Northwestern High School. She worked as a secretary at James Harrison Elementary School in PG County for many years and was a member of the Ladies of Charities at St. Mary’s of the Mills in Laurel.

Mary loved to travel with her husband, with trips to Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Thailand and many cruises to the Caribbean Islands. She was an avid collector of giraffes and filled their house with all kinds of statues and pictures of giraffes.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her son, John Edward Goggin, her daughter Liz Nearhoof and her husband Jim of Marriottsville; her twin sister Patricia Shelton and her husband Richard Shelton of Bowie; one brother John Hanley of Florida; three grandchildren, Hunter and Tyler Sidle of Marriottsville, Brittany Todd of Indiana; three step-grandchildren, Justin, Nicholas and Cohen Nearhoof of Pennsylvania; three nieces and four nephews.
