Kevin W. Bartley passed away in his home on Friday, July 27, 2018 at the age of 65. The son of Cynthia L. Thompson and Ted O. Bartley, Kevin was born in Greencastle, Indiana on July 13, 1953 at the Putnam County Hospital. The eldest of three boys, he is survived by his brothers Van T. Bartley of Spencer, Indiana and Brian W. Bartley of Bloomington, Indiana, and by his niece, Samantha A. Bartley.
He graduated from Greencastle High School and subsequently attended DePauw University where he participated in theater and scholastic debate. During high school, he was the local little league baseball coach alongside his friend Mike Bowman. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed a good game of chess with his brothers. Kevin was a fan of the Boston Red Sox baseball team and Minnesota Women's Volleyball team. Above all else, Kevin enjoyed sitting back with a glass of wine, a little music, and a good book.
Kevin moved from Indiana to Maryland with his former wife, Teresa, to advance his professional career and became enamored with the area.
In his professional life, Kevin was a successful insurance underwriter for corporate accounts and worked for Alliant Insurance Services. He was noted for his dry humor, wit, wisdom, and compassion in both his professional and personal life, and served as a friend and mentor to many of his colleagues and friends.
A celebration of Kevin's life will be held at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home in Bowie MD on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 2 pm.
