Gearlyn leaves to celebrate her life - her spouse Melissa Neace, two sisters-in-law, Lettie Taylor of Greensboro, NC. and Patricia Parks Taylor of Connecticut. Nephews; Lamar Taylor, Lloyd Taylor, Jr., Lawrence Taylor, Lawson Taylor all from Greensboro, NC., Mary Ferguson from NY and Omar Taylor from NC. Nieces; Dawn Roberts and Sharonda Beverly from NJ., and Tabara Taylor from NC.
Gearlyn was preceded in death by those who raised her; Blanche and Ben Sloan of Lowell, NC. A sister Claudette Beverly and two brothers Roger Taylor and Lloyd Taylor.
Gearlyn attended Essex College in NJ, and in 1977, enlisted in the U.S. Army, and proudly serving her country until she was Honorably Discharged in 1984.
She worked in telecommunications, initially with Halifax Engineering and later with QWEST Communications until she retired in November of 2012.
Gearlyn was a member and attended services at St. Matthews United Methodist Church since 2001.
