Elaine Elanore Young

Born November 17th, 1935 in Pond Hill, PA, she attended Shickshinny High School and graduated in 1953. Upon graduation, Elaine enlisted in the United States Navy and served active duty until 1955, attaining the rank of Teleman Petty Officer 3rd Class. Her service in the Navy always remained a treasured memory, in part, because it was during her active duty time that she met her future husband who was also serving in the Navy.

On Oct 15, 1955, she married Anthony (Tony) Young, of Quincy, MA. Tony and Elaine lived in Arlington, VA, and Lexington, KY, before moving to Bowie, MD in 1963, where she resided for the remainder of her life.

Elaine will especially be remembered for her love of sewing and gardening. She was a homemaker and skilled seamstress, establishing her own alteration business and also performing alterations for Peebles Department Store. She will be most remembered for her love of her family.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers and by her beloved husband, Tony, in 2018. Survivors include her brother, Robert Sivilich of Ashton, PA, her son, David Young and his wife Sarah, of Linthicum Heights, MD, and her son Kevin Young and his wife Lisa, of Bowie, MD, five grandchildren, Mark and his wife Sarah, Kaitlyn and her husband Luke, Eleanor, Elizabeth, Rachel, and one great grandson, Anthony.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 6:30PM, her funeral service will promptly begin at 6:30PM

Elaine will be interned in a private ceremony at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, Maryland.
