Dan was born with spina bifida and battled multiple challenges throughout his life but always found the energy to overcome those challenges and remained a bright and positive influence on everyone he touched. His laughter and warmth were constants in the lives of those he loved and his wish for the happiness and well-being of others was unwavering.
Dan held full-time positions with Prince Georges County Police and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center as an IT professional. His energy and spirit drove him to compete in several wheelchair races receiving medals in the Special Olympics, Marine Corp marathon and other competitions.
Dan was a die-hard Redskins fan who honored the burgundy and gold. His passion for the Redskins was matched only by his love for his family. He is survived by his cherished brother-in-law Joe Bonner (Lynn Crouse), brother Mickey Vaughan (Donna), his nephews Joey Bonner (Keri), Paul Bonner (Ashley) and nieces Kelsey Bonner Wuest (John), Nicole Vaughan Forsman (Brandon) and Megan Vaughan. He also held a special place in his heart for his great nephew, Jack Wuest.
A visitation for Dan will be held Friday, October 11, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD 20715. A visitation will also occur on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Landover Hills Baptist Church, 4420 73rd Avenue, Landover Hills, MD 20715.
His funeral service will occur Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Landover Hills Baptist Church, 4420 73rd Avenue, Landover Hills, MD 20784.
He will be buried in the Fort Lincoln Cemetery following the funeral service
