Ashland was born in Norfolk County, Virginia to the late Robert Lee Clemons Sr. and Dorothy Mae Ricks. He attended public school in Norfolk County and was a student at both Norfolk and Virginia State Universities.
An ambitious and dedicated worker with a public servant’s heart, he served in the federal government for 31 years. His love for people and “community” was evident. He was an active and positive force as the civic association president of the Enterprise Estates subdivision for over 10 years during which time, he was instrumental in leading efforts that increased safety awareness and beautified the community.
His love for community was only outweighed by his love for family. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Shelia of 43 years, 6 children (1 predeceased), 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 siblings, and many more family members and dear friends that he held close to his heart.
We will miss his big smile, quick wit, and out-of-the-box humor.
The viewing for Ashland will be Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 11:00am to 12:00 noon with the homegoing service immediately following at Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD 20715.
