Richard Ray Pease Jr., age 57, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 22, 2016 in Providence, Rhode Island, surrounded by his family. Rick was born on July 25, 1959 in Boston, MA, son of Arline D. Pease and the late Richard Ray Pease.
He grew up in Liberty Pole, Hingham, MA. Rick graduated from Hingham High School in 1977, and attended University of Maine Orono and Northeastern University before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1979. Rick was stationed in Dover, Delaware where he was a Staff Sergeant and a chief mechanic for the C5 planes. He served through the Iran-Iraq and Gulf Wars, and retired in 1999 after serving his country for 20 years. After retirement from the Air Force, Rick moved to Connecticut, where he worked for Coca-Cola. For the past 6 years Rick worked for Sperry Railroad Service. He really enjoyed this work as a BSFD operator and the people that he worked alongside training new employees on the equipment.
Rick’s passion in life was being a father to his two beloved children, Justin and Lindsey Pease. He was so proud of them, and enjoyed all the time that he got to spend with each of them. In recent years he spent time in Savannah, Georgia where Lindsey attended college, and in Plymouth, MA where Justin and Lindsey now reside. They loved to go for walks, watch movies, play video games, and just be together. There was nothing more important to Rick than his kids and his family. His family knew Rick to be the true dog whisperer, a never-ending source of the perfect dry “one-liners”, and the most patient man for any job that needed to be done around the house. He spent countless happy hours with his brother doing “projects” and taking care of his sister’s “to be fixed lists”.
Rick is survived by his children, Justin and Lindsey Pease of Plymouth, MA, his mother, Arline Pease of Ellington, CT, his brother Ron and wife Dori of Glastonbury, CT, and his sister Susan Murphy and husband Patrick of Hanover, MA. He was also the favorite uncle of Ronnie, Nicole, and Kenny Pease, and PJ, Michelle, Lauren, and Cameron Murphy.
Calling hours will be at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, Bourne, MA from 10:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m on Tuesday, October 11, 2016. A short memorial service will take place at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. To honor Rick’s service to our country there will be a procession to the Bourne National Veterans Cemetery immediately following the calling hours for a full military burial at 1:15 p.m.
