Pauline Edith (Patrick) Pleau, of Bourne passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at her home, with her loving daughter Pauline, her in-home companion and caregiver for the last 5 years, at her side. She is now reunited with her loving husband the late Bernard R. Pleau.
Born in Bellingham, MA, on August 14, 1926, the daughter of the late Ray O. and Anna (Boivin) Patrick and is one of eight siblings. She grew up on the family farm in Bellingham. She attended public schools and graduated from Hill College in Woonsocket, RI with a degree in Bookkeeping and Accounting. She met Bernard after school before he left for WWII where he served and fought in Germany. Bernard was wounded in the war and spent over a year recovering from his wounds. They were married in 1946 and settled in Milford, MA before eventually moving to Medway, MA and upon retirement to Cape Cod.
Pauline spent most of her married life caring for her family. Taking care of 10 children and maintaining a household was a monumental and time-consuming effort. She loved the large family settings and set a high bar for family values.
Pauline was a member of 4H and enjoyed knitting, scrap books, and entertaining family gatherings. As the children grew and moved on with their lives, Pauline went to work at a local bank and totally enjoyed this new aspect of her life. When Bernard retired, they moved to Cape Cod and in the summer of 1990 Bernard passed away. Pauline became very active at St John Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and loved working with everyone at the church community center. She played a lead role in coordinating events and activities at the center for many years. She also worked part time at the Christmas Tree Shop in Sagamore until she was 88 years young and loved it!
In her later years, Pauline loved the wildlife around the house, especially the birds, squirrels, chipmunks, and bunnies. She enjoyed sitting on her deck in the sun, watching the Cardinals visit her feeders as they were her favorite bird. She loved attending family events and going for car rides to visit friends and family or just experience new places. She excelled in doing jig-saw puzzles, crosswords, diamond painting and loved card and board games.
Pauline is survived by her ten loving children, grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
