Jeannie was born to the late Ronald and Phyllis Laprade on April 21st 1953 in Worcester, MA, and graduated from St. Peter’s High School in 1971. She married longtime beau and best friend Peter Stone in 1982 and they built a home together in Plymouth, MA in 1984, where they have since resided.
Jeannie had been an active member of the Nu Psi Sorority, and was one of the founding members of her local chapter. She also served as her husband’s counterpart during his time with the Aleppo Shrine, and was First Lady in 2005. In 1996, she returned to the workforce as a graphic designer for Ocean Graphics, an independent print shop specializing in graphic design, vinyl cutting, and print-setting for business, until she retired in 2016.
She enjoyed traveling, relaxing and playing video games, reading, doing crossword puzzles and cryptograms, cooking and baking, dabbled in painting, and had recently rekindled an interest in gardening. Most of all, Jeannie was a fun-loving person with a contagious laugh that could strike up a conversation with the paint on the wall, and wanted simply to be remembered for being a kind person. She accomplished that in spades: she was decent, down-to-earth, accepting, curious, unflappable, and loving – a safe person that offered a compassionate listening ear and judgement-free-zone for so many.
She claimed to be a curmudgeon, but her favorite times were those spent with friends and family: traveling, camping trips, playing card games and board games, attending musicals, recitals, sports games, concerts, and performances. Though she sometimes needed encouragement to attend, she enjoyed family parties – the typical: birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, holidays, as well as the less so: glögg parties, weddings, New Year’s Eve sleepovers with Randy and Johnny, in-home karaoke nights, Friendsgiving, Cousin Days, Campground Stone (the front lawn). She also enjoyed hosting gatherings herself. Despite her illness this year, she STILL hosted her extended family for the traditional Labor Day Weekend-Long party that she had helmed for decades. For each occasion, big and small, no matter how cumbersome the prep or the getting there was, the result was always the same: good times were had and she and was so happy to have gotten together with everyone.
Jeannie is survived by her husband Peter of Plymouth, and her "gaybies” - son Matthew of Plymouth, daughter Lindsey of Somerset, and Lindsey’s live-in-gal-pal Amanda, also of Somerset. She is also survived by her brother Richard and his wife Hollis of Worcester, countless nieces and nephews that she adored so, and her 3 step-grandchildren, Charlie, Lilly, and Layla of Somerset.
