Christine Ann (DeSimone) McManus, 75, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 surrounded by her family at her home in Pocasset after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Gregory R. McManus.
Born and raised in Framingham, MA she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Antoinette (Chiumento) DeSimone and attended Marian High School. She married Greg, the love of her life of over 53 years and discovered a shared passion for planning and hosting family celebrations that led to them moving their young family to the green and orange Victorian in Brookfield, MA. It was here, that Christine saw the opportunity to co-found the Brookfield Community Club and the Apple Country Fair as a way to enrich education and community life.
Christine was many things to many people, Wife, Mother, Daughter, Nonna, Sister, Aunt and Friend. She found strength and grace from her faith that never wavered. She was a friend to all and was always ready to lend a hand whether it was for her community, her church or a school project for her children and later grandchildren. She always put the needs of others before herself and inherently made everyone feel special. Another passion of Christine’s was her love of travel and once she and Greg retired to Pocasset, they enjoyed trips in their restored 356B for oysters, cappuccinos or winding roads. Ever the community activist, she was a Founding Member of the Board of Directors of Pocasset Water Quality Coalition. We could write a book, however, in the end, Christine was a giver, generous with her time, talent and self.
She will be sorely missed by her husband, her three daughters, Laura (Jeremy) MacLachlan, Colleen McManus-Leveillee and Caroline (Gregg) McPherson; her seven grandchildren Rocco (Naomi) MacLachlan, Cormac MacLachlan, Connor Dufault, Maeve MacLachlan,
Henry McPherson, Aidan McPherson and Emery Leveillee; siblings Andrea Hallion, Michelle (Christopher) Sampson, and Michael DeSimone as well as cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude to their extended family, friends and community who generously offered their love and time to make it possible for Christine to stay in the home she loved. The family would also like to thank the staff at Beacon Hospice, especially Cathy and Mirabel and the nurses, doctors and aides at Massachusetts General Hospital for taking such special care of Christine.
The family will welcome family and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Christine at 10 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2022, St. John the Evangelist Church, 841 Shore Road, Pocasset. Burial to follow at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury.
