Robert Brooks, loving father, son and friend passed away unexpectedly Tuesday March 26, 2019 in Boulder. Robert, who has lived in Boulder, CO for the past 20 years spent his childhood and young adult years in San Francisco and Kailua, Honolulu, County Hawaii. He was born March 20, 1967 in Ankara, Turkey to Edwin and Delfina Brooks. Robert graduated from CU Boulder in 1998, where he studied Kinesiology and was in the U.S. Army R.O.T.C at San Francisco University. Most recently he was a personal trainer at Mountain Edge Fitness sharing his love of “body-spirit-mind” with many loyal clients. Previously, Robert was co-owner with Mary Siefert of the Workout Studio in Boulder 2000-2013. Rob was an amazing personal trainer and kickboxing instructor. He was also was the strength and conditioning coach at CU Boulder from 1997 -1998. In addition to strength and fitness training, Robert loved the martial arts and was a 3rd degree Black Belt in Karate, a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a purple belt in Brazilian Jujitsu. Roberts martial arts studies also helped him achieve first place at the 1995 World Kyuk Too Ki Championships, Rob was also a three time (1995-1997) Sabaki World Champion and runner up in 1998. Robert had a big heart, loved animals and had a deep devotion for all of his beloved friends and family. Roberts love and devotion for his son Colton, was deepest of all and his pride for his son was boundless. He had a great love of dogs and was very gifted in training them. Robert also had a deep passion for fishing, which he shared with his father Ed, his son Colton and his girlfriend Suzanne. He is survived by his son Colton, Father Ed and step mother Chita, sisters Rosemary Hunt, Charlene Schwenk and Vonnie San Martin, his brother Carlos San Martin and his girlfriend Suzanne Naber. A memorial service will be held 3 pm Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Crist Mortuary 3395 Penrose Pl., Boulder, CO. Memorial contributions in Roberts name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
