Rachel Morrison Jones

Rachel Morrison Jones, age 91, passed away November 21, 2020. She was born March 13, 1929 to John Henry Morrison and Pearl Beatrice Keeler in Johnstown Pennsylvania. She met the love of her life, Milton David Jones, at Heidelberg College in Tiffin Ohio. They were married in his hometown of Dover Ohio on August 29, 1948.

She enjoyed being the wife of a minister and Mom to her four children. Outside her home, she had many fulfilling jobs as an executive secretary. She loved to cook for the family using recipes from her beloved Mother - Honeybee. Bringing the family together for holidays and celebrations was an important part of her life. Baking enough Christmas cookies for “an army” was an annual tradition requiring an early start and lots of butter. There are many cherished memories of “Sweetpea” and these gatherings at the house in Boulder for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters Elaine and Maythorne. And earlier this year by her husband, the Reverend Milton David Jones. She is survived by her four children; Jonathan Jones of Silver Spring, MD, Timothy Jones (Penny Sargent) of Salem, OR, Rebecca Seiden (Robert) of Lafayette, CO, and Mary Shomaker (Steve) of Denver, CO. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren Nathan Jones (Charissa), Aaron Seiden (Jamie), Sarah Shomaker Pettenger (Joe), Jacqueline Jones, Rachel Tabor (Peter), Jennifer Jones, Ethan Seiden, Micaela Seiden, and Hannah Seiden. Rachel loved all of her great grandchildren, listed in order of age; Avery Seiden, Oliver Pettenger, Bobby Seiden, Theodore Pettenger, Chase Tabor, Jack Jones, Calla Tabor, and Lily Jones.

The family will have a celebration of life in Boulder on August 29, 2021 which would have been Rachel and Milt’s 73rd Wedding Anniversary. Contributions in honor of Rachel can be made to the Boulder County Humane Society or the ACLU.
