Melody Ann Stanton passed away on April 12th after courageously battling pancreatic cancer for nearly four years. She was surrounded by her husband of 39 years, Luther and her children (Dave, Bill, Jerry, Bobby (Magda), and Joe (Kaitlin). She is survived by children Cheri and Jonathan, granddaughters Mackenzie and Olive Stanton, Kyleigh and Bethany Ardoin and four great grandchildren. Melody was born in Rushville Illinois to Ruth Ann and James Kirk. She had four siblings, Bill, Jim, Jane, and Jill. As children they loved spending summers with her beloved grandmother Cora Ann Payne on her family farm near Industry, Illinois.
Melody spent time working in television and advertising as a young adult, working in sales at national conventions in places like Atlantic City, Minneapolis, and Lansing, before moving to Boulder, Colorado where she met her husband, Luther. Melody had a passion for helping others, working first at the Presbyterian Manor for nearly ten years before proudly co-founding Family Hospice and later Craft Home Health, and Craft Hospice.
In her free time, Melody loved to read fiction, and historical novels about the Civil War. She always had a piano in the house, a love of music which flowed from her mother, through her and to all those around her. She was passionate about cycling and traveling in her RV with her husband and their boxer, Happy. Melody always looked forward to birthdays, when she would “bike her age in miles” followed by dinner at Jose Muldoon’s or Rincon Del Sol with friends and family. She will be very missed.
A celebration of life will be held for Melody at the Chautauqua Community House, 301 Morning Glory Dr. Boulder, Co 80302 on Wednesday April 24th from 1-4pm.
