She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Richard Larson. Their love story began in Watervliet, N. Y. where they attended first grade together.
She also leaves behind two grown children - Kim McClary of Fort Morgan, Co. and Kurt Larson (Elisabeth) of Wescosville, Pa. There are 4 grandsons who she loved dearly, Scott and Michael McClary and Ben and Reed Larson.
Her only sibling was her late brother, Dr. Gerald Firth (Doris). She is survived by her brother-in-law Barry Larson (Barbara).
Marilyn had many nieces and nephews in Georgia, Missouri, and upstate New York who she admired greatly.
Marilyn graduated from New York State University at Albany with a BS in education, with honors. She taught both high school and middle school in New York state, always loving her interaction with students and staff.
When she, Dick and their children moved to Boulder in 1966, Marilyn felt the need to find a school and found Eisenhower Elementary (or they found her). It was a very successful union for over 30 years.
Loved, respected and admired by many, she was a role model for everyone she met.
“I have no doubt that your guidance, kindness and compassion to me so early in my life has helped shape me into the person I am today”, was the sentiment from so many of the lives she touched - students, teachers, family and parents. A legacy to be proud of.
Marilyn’s love for her husband, family and all who connected with her over the years, made her a special human being with a beautiful smile and a wonderful sense of humor.
At her request, there will be no service. She will be cremated, and a private family memorial will be held at a later time.
Please send your loving spirit out into the world and honor her in that way.
