Mariette Genevieve (Moser) Anderson, age 103, of Boulder, Colorado, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Monday, November 22, 2021. Mariette was born in Lewiston, Idaho, March 30, 1918, the third daughter of Robert Harland Yount Moser and Myrtle Ivy (Mitchell) Moser. Her father was always in sales and the family moved a number of times in the Northwest: Nezperce, Idaho, Pocatella, Idaho, Clarkston, WA, Walla Walla, WA; Portland, OR, and Spokane, WA.
Most of her school activities had to do with Music. Besides learning to play the piano at an early age, she played the saxophone in a traveling dance band and bassoon in the school orchestra She was President of the Math Club, member of the Latin Club and a member of Rainbow Girls as well as active in the Church Youth Group.
After Graduation from Lewis & Clark High School in Spokane, WA, in 1935, she attended Washington State College. To earn her way, she worked in the College Coffee Shop where she met her future husband, Andy (Herman) Conrad Anderson, also her lab Instructor in her Chemistry class. After he graduated (1936) he was hired by Dow Chemical Co. and moved to Michigan. Missing Mariette, he wrote to her father and asked if they could be married. Her parents reluctantly agreed and sent her by train to Cleveland, OH, where they were married by a cousin of her father, Rev. Gerhardt Long the day before Thanksgiving, November 25, 1936.
In Midland, MI, they had four children and Mariette served as a Girl Scout Leader and supported Andy in his active pursuits, In 1951 Dow Chemical received a contract to build the Atomic Energy Plant at Rocky Flats and Andy was assigned Director of Labs, so they moved to Boulder, Colorado.
Mariette made friends in Boulder's Newcomers' Club, participated in PTA, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Women's Clubs, and Church activities, serving as an Elder at First Presbyterian Church, Life time member of Boulder Country Club , President of the Colorado State Senior Women's Golf Association, a passionate member of the Buffalo Belles at CU, having cheered many teams to victory, including those of her two sons - Dick and Bobby - CU All-Americans, and NFL football stars. She served forty plus years as a Volunteer at Community Hospital, where she was honored as a Volunteer of the Year - mainly knitting booties and hats for new babies and organizing their distribution.
As a family we enjoyed skiing, camping, and traveling. Having visited all 50 states and about that many foreign countries including numerous cruises. She was a willing hostess of many family gatherings, a supporter of foreign engineering CU students and always willing to help where needed. She was smart, caring, generous, talented and had a terrific smile for all she encountered
Predeceased by her parents, her two sisters: Pauline Jesse Day Shook, and Jeannette Eloise Partch, and her loving husband, Herman Conrad Anderson in 2012, (married almost 76 years) Mariette will be sorely missed by her children: Patricia Jeanette Petersen of Rhode Island, Janis Kay George of Washington State, Richard (Dick) Anderson of Florida, and Robert (Bobby) Anderson of California, 8 grandchildren (7 married), 20 great-grandchildren, 4 nieces, 7 nephews, and a Swedish exchange student - Gunilla Brunge Brenning.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Frasier Meadows Manor Eldorado Room. Memorials made to Tru Hospice Care, 2594 Trailridge Drive E., Lafayette, CO 80026 and Boulder Community Hospital will honor Mariette's life.
