Margaret A. Hudson, daughter of William H. and Charlotte Neisler passed away in her Boulder home on August 15, 2011 at 2pm. Margaret was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In her own quiet way, she made significant contributions to her community and was recognized by the Daily Camera as a “Monday Morning Rose” in October 1993.
Six siblings preceded her in death including her twin sister who died at eight months of age.
She was a native of Boulder, educated in the Boulder schools graduating from Boulder High in 1939. She was married to William J. (Joe) Hudson on February 11, 1942. He died Jan. 10, 1974. She had two sons Jerry and Ron. Ron was killed in a plane accident in 1978.
Joe and Margaret started the Hudson Company in Boulder in 1948, where later more family members joined them in growing the business over the years including the building of many apartment complexes and housing developments in the Boulder community.
In addition to working with the Hudson Company, Margaret was a professional drapery seamstress working for several companies such as Kahre Interiors, Dolby Drapery, Walter Rymill, Joe Barnhill and others over forty years. She was a twenty- year volunteer at Community Hospital, a life long member of the Nazarene Church where she filled many spots and taught the adult seniors at South Broadway Nazarene Church.
Survivors include: her son, Jerry and wife Linda of Kingwood TX; daughter-in-law Ann and husband Robert of Denver; six grandchildren: Andrew and wife Jamie of Lumberton, TX; Melissa and husband Matt Ritter of Williamston, SC; Jenni and husband Matt Melton of Gillette, WY; Lara Hudson Oerter and husband Brian Hale of Bethesda, MD, Erik Hudson Oerter of Oakland, CA; and Joel Oerter of Seattle, WA: Six great grandchildren: Mackenzie Ann and Cole Steven Hudson; Charles Haddon and Marin Alice Melton; Josephine Margaret and Nathaniel Hudson Hale.
A memorial service in Margaret’s honor will be held at Crist Mortuary on Friday, August 19 at 10am.
