Joseph Barrie Johnson

Peacefully on Wednesday 12th April 2023 after a long illness, Joe, aged 70, bravely born on 3rd January 1953 passed away at Boulder Community Hospital. Joe was the much loved Son of the late Bill and Molly, devoted and loved Brother to Billy and Bob, a much loved Brother-in-Law to Pam and Shirley and devoted partner to Pam.

Joe was born in Hamilton, Scotland and spent several years living in Africa and Canada before returning to the UK to study at the Polytechnic of Wales qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor and worked for Wales Gas for approximately 7 years, before moving to Boulder 40 years ago and starting his own appraisal business Johnson Appraisals.

Rugby was Joe’s life, playing wing for Cardiff High School Old Boys and various positions including Centre and Fly Half for Boulder Rugby Club. When Joe hung up his boots, he became a coach for Boulder and CURFC, a job which gave him immense satisfaction.

Joe leaves behind a legacy that will be an inspiration for many to come.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday 26th April at 11am at Crist Chapel 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder, 80301. The family request informal wear or Boulder / any rugby shirts to be worn.
