My condolences to Heather and Kathy on the death of your incredible mother.  Her combination of wit, wisdom, kindness, intelligence, and elegance were irreplaceable.  She was a wonderful teacher, colleague, and friend, who will be greatly missed by so many of us working in the schools.  It's difficult to believe that we all must continue without her.

Our Whittier colleagues have expressed  my thoughts about this special person; just a little more: Gloria was a pro, and her  teaching  was strong model  as I moved from years in high school to another world in elementary school. She also was a very interesting person; during a get-aquainted session, as we told partners one little known fact about ourselves, she shared that she had played at the funeral of Albert Einstein in Princeton. Wow! Her interest and knowledge of American history were impressive and fascinating. Her often-mentioned sense of fun was in full swing when I was going to President Bill Clinton's inauguration -- we shared many things but not our political persuasion -- and she got a big kick out of loaning me garnet earrings for the inaugural ball.  I'm with you all: colleagues, students,  family, as we remember this grand person.

Gloria was a good person and a wonderful Elk. I had the privilege of initiating her into our Lodge in Boulder. She was a great volunteer. I will miss her very much.

I was so sorry to hear of Gloria's passing.  She was such a  special lady whose friendship I enjoyed so much during the years we were both at Whittier.  She was warm, friendly, and funny from the first time I met her and she made me feel at home in a new school after years of being a stay-at-home-mom who wasn't quite sure she wanted to be back at work. And once I saw the absolutely beautiful dolls she made by hand, we had so much to talk about and share.  It was always a treat to attend after school activities at her house just to see all those fabulous antique dolls!  I feel fortunate to have known her, and I am very sorry that I won't be able to be at her service  tomorrow.  I would have liked to have honored her by being there, but I will be with you all in spirit. Very fondly, Barb Koshio

We are so many that touch the life of Gloria, from Fisk School, Trenton H.S., Trenton State Teachers College, W.Trenton Pres. Church.  Heather and Kathy I want to express my deepest sympathy on behalf of so many of Gloria's friends in New Jersey.

We will all miss Gloria in Ewing, NJ.  I had so hoped to see her this Spring.  I have a photo of Gloria walking from the Hillwood Inn on the campus of The College of New Jersey that sits in the faculty dining room.  I had resurrected the letter that Gloria wrote me in 2nd grade at Parkway School when I was home with Chicken Pox.  Those who graduated with Gloria from TCNJ are all saddened by your families loss.  May you rest in peace Gloria where you join Vi, Elaine and Eileen.

I am Deeply Sadden on Gloria's passing;  spoke many times on the phone with her about our days thru Fisk School,  Trenton Central High and the good-old days in West Trenton NJ.  She was truly a wonderful person and will be missed by many of us.   My Sincere Sympathy to Gloria's daughters,

I was so sad to hear of Gloria's passing.  She was such a talented and professional teacher. She helped to shape me into the teacher I have become after working with her at Whittier for many years.  She was also a great substitute teacher for me for many years.  She always accomplished what was in the plans I left and also graded the work the students did while she was with them.  I loved her quiet jokes and fun disposition. She was a wonderful lady.

What a pleasure Gloria was.  Every interaction with her brought a smile. She was a beautiful lady.

Mrs. Robbins was my fifth grade teacher, at a time in my life when I felt terribly alone and as if no one understood me. The previous year had been horrible, but when I came to her class it was like a weight lifted. She was so very kind to me, and I always think of her with great fondness. I'm very sorry to hear that she is gone.

   My heart is heavy with the realization that one of Whittier's finest is no longer among us...she and I shared so many laughs as members of the faculty, and the camaraderie within our staff was always to be treasured.  Her perceptive insight was invaluable, and her hilarious, witty sense of humor was a great source of pure pleasure!   As a genuine role model for students, she  made a significant difference in the lives of all her students, and her professionalism was an inspiration.   Each of us is a better person for having known Gloria, and her influence will continue beyond our fondest realization.

I am so saddened to learn of Gloria's death. She was one of the caring, competent, multi-talented teachers that left a mark on so many young lives. It was always a pleasure to see her interact with others; young and not so young. Your mom was like a 2nd mom to me.  I am truly sad to hear this news.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all and I would certainly be there but am out of town.  Please know I am thinking of you.  She was an amazing lady and teacher and raised great women as well.  Hugs to you.

I am so saddened to learn of your mom's passing.  She contributed much to many people's lives, including mine.  I am sorry to have lost touch with her for the past several years, though I thought about her often.  I know that you girls and Heather's children were the joys of her life.  I'm sure she passed with music in her heart about Kathy and Jim's marriage plans, and I'm sad that she might miss the chance to be physically present to enjoy your wedding day...but knowing Gloria...  Her presence will be everywhere.

I am sorry I never got to meet Aunt Gloria in person, but I was able to speak with her on the phone when I was doing research for the family tree.  When I come through Colorado this summer, I will visit her grave and decorate it with flowers.

Our much traveled military family spent much of our holiday and leave time visiting Gloria's family over many years, along with the Whitmoyer's who were thankfully usually located close by, . Those visits with the two family's was  always a high point and eagerly anticipated by my brother Rich, mother Yoko and my father and I. Rich and Yoko became particularly close with Gloria and her children over the ensuing years, with her friendship and support deeply enriching both of their lives. 

As I lost my mother, father and finally brother to the inevitable, her special brand of love, characterized by a warming intelligence and calm awareness within a deep encompassing empathy was vitally important to my emotional survival. It is frankly, beyond my abilities to adequately express.
 
In my family, both immediate and extended, she was one with whom I felt a most kindred harmony of spirit, mind and emotion. Whenever I have felt the despair and sting of disappointment in life and other human beings, she was always a soothing refuge for my embattled mind and wounded heart. She will always be for me and example of the best that I might become and a reminder of how much the light of love is in this world. 

My deepest condolences to you both Heather and Kathy, on the loss of the physical presence of such a wonderful mother. And to Holly and Harry for the ending of your time with your grandmother who had so much to give.
 
For myself, I feel a loss as deep as that of my own parents and brother and I will forever cherish every memory I have of her. Appreciating the beauty of her last days and of her peaceful passing I feel so grateful and blessed to have known and been loved by her. 

I pray that we may all continue to recognize and feel her presence in our hearts and minds as we continue to go forward and ever deeper.
