Craig was born in Sherman Texas on June 7, 1949 to Harry and Frances Hammond Perkins. He grew up in Fort Worth Texas graduating from Castleberry High School. He attended university in Fort Worth prior to being drafted into the Army during the Vietnam war. He started flight school in his teens and used the GI bill to finish his education and become a commercial pilot. He met his wife Roxanne Lamphere, who was a flight attendant, while flying for Piedmont Airlines. They married on June 15, 1982 in Breckenridge Colorado.
After many adventures flying around the world, Craig retired from American Airlines at age 65 as an International Airline Captain. He received numerous awards for his achievements as a pilot. Craig participated in many activities including golf, tennis and hunting. He also spent time every summer fishing and boating at the family lake cabin in Minnesota. Craig spent his recent years enjoying time with family, watching his grand kids play and using his skills as an amazing storyteller.
Craig is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Frances Perkins, sister Jann Perkins, her son Captain Blake Russell, brother-in-law Craig Lamphere and father-in-law David Lamphere.
Craig is survived by his wife Roxanne and their three sons, Adam (Erin) Perkins, Andrew (Alexi) Perkins, Austin (fiancé Pavlina) Perkins as well as two grandchildren, Aiden and Addison. Craig is also survived by his first son Gary, from Craig’s first marriage, and his wife Caryn, three grandchildren, Hannah (Kameron) Toll, Hayden Perkins and Halana (Monikkah) Perkins, as well as one great granddaughter, Ila. He is also survived by his brother David Perkins, mother-in law Fran McDowell, brother-in-law Wade (Kathleen) Lamphere, brother-in-law Brett (Cathy) Lamphere, brother-in-law Ron Russell and sister-in-law Donna Lamphere along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on October 7th at Westview Lutheran Church (https://www.westviewboulder.org/) in South Boulder.
The burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Fort Lupton CO, for family only, the day prior. Arrangements are by Crist Memorial.
