Sara (Snyder) Katz, aged 53, passed away peacefully June 10, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. Born Sara Emily Snyder in Silver Spring, Maryland on July 24, 1968, Sara was the younger of two daughters born to Carolyn Thackston Snyder and Donald Harrington Snyder. The family lived in Charlotte, North Carolina and Lawrenceville, New Jersey during Sara’s childhood. Sara is a graduate of Stuart Country Day School in Princeton, where she was president of her senior class. She earned an undergraduate degree at Colorado College and a master’s degree at Antioch University, in conjunction with her studies at the New Actors Workshop in New York. She was a marathon runner, completing the New York Marathon and the Pike’s Peak Ascent. Sara and her son Gabriel traveled the world together, living in Bluffton, South Carolina; Chiang Mai, Thailand; and multiple states in the U.S. before moving to Brookline, MA, in 2019 for proximity to family and Dana Farber. Her survivors include her son; her parents, who reside in Hingham, MA (after nearly two decades in Bluffton, SC); her sister Amy Snyder Weed of Brookline; Amy’s partner Frederick Waterman; nieces Catherine and Maura Weed; and extended family and friends. A celebration of Sara’s life will take place in Brookline at Skyline Park at 4 p.m. on July 23, 2022.
