Kathie died peacefully in her apartment at The Cambridge Homes with her nieces at her side. It was a fitting end for a woman who was devoted to her family. Her nieces and nephews will long remember and love her, as will her goddaughters and many others, for the ways in which she cherished and nurtured her relationships with each of them.
She was predeceased by her sister Elizabeth French Jacobs and brother Stanley G. French, Jr.
An avid reader of history, biography, and literature, Kathie also had a deep love for classical music and was a season ticket holder at the BSO for many years. She traveled every couple of years to Europe or Great Britain, often visiting and staying with friends overseas. She took her last trip abroad in 2007, when she was eighty. From childhood, she loved visiting Annisquam in the summer, and she always made a point of spending some part of her summer there each year, visiting family and enjoying the village and seaside.
Kathie attended Christ Church, Cambridge, and she was a member of the Society of the Companions of the Holy Cross. She made regular retreats to Adelynrood, the Society’s beautiful center in Byfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Society of the Companions of the Holy Cross, 46 Elm Street, Byfield, MA 01922.
