Gary was born on April 10th, 1955 in Medford, Massachusetts. He married Lea Anne (Bolliger) Dunton and together they raised three children, all of whom he is survived by. Gary graduated from Northeastern University and Harvard Business School before pursuing an incredibly successful career which culminated in him being the Chief Executive Officer of one of the largest financial institutions in the country. Gary’s life uniquely touched so many people, and he will be remembered not only by his family, but by his friends, neighbors, colleagues, and the numerous people that he gave his time and resources to throughout his life.
We couldn’t possibly hope to capture all of whom Gary was in one page or who he remains to be by all those who loved him, but some of his most notable traits were: his enormous generosity, his sense of humor, his intelligence and wit, his boundless energy, his empathy and kindness towards others, and his sense of adventure. Gary loved the ocean and boating; he, Lea Anne, and their children went on countless adventures along the coasts of England and New England across the years. He took a great interest in cars, and those from his youth will remember his love for racing and fixing them up. He also loved history and could describe people and events to you in great detail and with enthusiasm. Gary was a natural leader, a gifted and spirited storyteller, and was quick with a smile, joke or to strike up a conversation with people any and everywhere.
He was talented at many things, but he was truly best at being a loving father and husband. He took such joy in his children. This included among other things: reading to them at night after a long day at work, attending all their sporting events, teaching them to drive, showing them how to invest, and going house hunting with them in Boston. He was always invested in their lives and futures. His wife of 41 years and three children, Parker B. Dunton, Samuel F. Dunton, and Julia D. Dunton will always cherish their wonderful memories of Gary, of which there are many.
