Judy S. Wendt, 81, of Pilot Grove, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 5th at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove. Her ashes will be placed with her late husband David’s in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO.
Judy was born July 10, 1943, in Brownsville, TX to Hallie C. “Steve” Stepherson and Wilma Anna Wiant. In 1961, she graduated high school early, married David Karl Wendt in same year. Their family traveled as his military career required. She spent her life researching and recording her family’s genealogy, amassing a library of records as the family historian. Through her research, she traced her family ancestry back over 1200 years She also worked as a cook at Northwest High School in House Springs, MO while her daughter and son were in school.
She is survived by a son; Douglas and Angela Wendt of Prairie Home, MO and their sons; Derek Wendt, Dylan Wendt, and Damon and Jaimei Wendt; her daughter, Karen Ross of Juneau, Alaska with her son and daughters; Jacob Ross, Tera and Cameron Cook, and Victoria “Tori” Ross; six great-grandchildren, Emma, Eva, Owen, Ella, Finn Cook and Dexter Wendt,; her sisters: Jean Londrie and Barbara Seals along with many nieces and nephews and a loving extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 60 years, David Wendt; a brother, Roy Stepherson; sisters, Geraldine & Ailene Stepherson; and her son-in-law, Victor Ross.
