Irene White

Irene Brackeen Kennedy White, 90, died Tuesday, March 12, 2015 at her home in Thrasher. She was born December 18, 1924, to Josiah Young Brackeen and Francis “Fannie” Elizabeth Smith Brackeen. She was a member of Kemps Chapel Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and working crossword puzzles.

A celebration of her life will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 14, 2015, at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Stevenson officiating. Burial will be in Kemps Chapel Cemetery.

She is survived by one daughter, June Yvonne (Steve) Powell of Booneville; two sons, Milton Carl Kennedy, Jr. of Olive Branch and Joe Edgar (Carole) Kennedy of Picayune; a sister, Ethel Gargus of Booneville; a special niece, Martha (Ruban) Fugitt; eight grandchildren, Donna Kennedy, Dana Vanbuskirk, Kristy Shive, David Shane Kennedy, Wendy Kennedy, Joe Kennedy, Ben Powell and Kimberly Wallis; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 43 years, Milton Carl Kennedy, Sr.; her second husband of 22 years, Vernon Waydean. White; a daughter, Edith Elaine Kennedy; and her siblings.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
