Helen Murphy Jones, 86, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at her home in Booneville. She was born September 21, 1931, to William Troy and Lela Lavell Hunkapiller Murphy. She worked as a teller for The Peoples Bank and Trust Company for several years. She was a member of Zion Rest Church of Christ, Booneville Business and Professional Women’s Club, The Red Hat Society, three bridge clubs, Freed-Hardeman Associates, and Magnolia Bible College Associates. She was salutatorian of her class at Marietta High School. She did charity work including fundraising for the Heart Association. She enjoyed cooking, playing bridge, playing dominoes, shuffleboard, fishing and camping, and basketball (playing and watching) . She loved church.
A celebration of life service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 17, 2018, at McMillan Funeral Home with Minister Tony Brown and Minister Doug Greenway officiating. Burial will be in Zion Rest Cemetery.
She is survived by one daughter, Sandy (Shaun) Tittle; one son, Mike (Sonya) Jones; one sister, Mavoline (Hugh Edward) Moore; two brothers, Terry (Linda) Murphy and Jerry (Judy) Murphy; four grandchildren, Chelsea Tittle, Chandler Tittle, Michael Jones and Jon Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Jones (the love of her life), in 2016; her parents; and her step-mother, Lorene Murphy; two sisters, Jeanette Hooser and Liz Glaspie; and one brother, Wayne Murphy.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
