William Palomo

Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. William Palomo was no exception. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, William will be remembered as a very exceptional person. William’s life journey began on January 6, 1924. He first greeted the world in Cananea Sonora, Mexico. His parents' names were Miguel Palomo and Concepcion Muñoz. He was raised with one brother, Mike Palomo. William was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his family sharing many life experiences over the years. William was a typical teenager who had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He attended San Diego High School up until he was drafted by the United States Army while in the 11th grade. He served in World War II from 1941 to 1945 during his 5 years of service. Falling in love is a huge milestone for any person. Just knowing that you have met that special someone is a magical feeling. William experienced that with Ofelia Marquez de la Peña and the couple exchanged wedding vows in Tijuana Baja California, Mexico. Empathic and loyal, William was committed to making his new family happy. William and Ofelia would be married for 50 years until Ofelia’s passing. While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. William was blessed with 3 children, Connie, Gina and Yvonne and three step children, Lupe, Martha and Julio. William worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs, raising his children in a positive and nurturing environment. Later on, William was blessed with the gift of 5 grandchildren Ivan, Paloma, Kayla, Dannett and Ivanna; 9 great-grand children Jorge, Eddie, Michael, Anya, Denise, Jose Luis, Berenise, Julio and Ivan; and 15 great great-grandchildren. How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, William enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, William worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his occupation as a barber for 65 years. A person's hobbies often mirror who they have become. William enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in a number of different activities, including going to the Del Mar Horserace’s, gambling, going to the VFW, talking with friends and he loved sports particularly football and baseball. He enjoyed life to the fullest and was usually willing to share his interests with others. William Palomo left us on September 26, 2011. He passed away in Chula Vista, California. He was 87 years old. He is survived by his three daughters, Yvonne Penton, Gina Palomo , Connie Palomo and his many grandchildren, great-grand children great great-grandchildren. Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. A memorial service was held at The Little Chapel of the Roses in Bonita, California on Friday, October 07, 2011. William was laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California. Simply stated, William was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. William leaves behind him legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life William Palomo touched will always remember him with a smile.
