Velma Ann Towner

Velma graduated from George Washington Carver High School of New Orleans. On April 21, 1971 she married Clifford James Towner. She moved to California where she went on to receive a Practical Nursing Certificate, and worked for many years at Kaiser Hospital. During that time she was also a devoted wife and loving mother to her sons. She also teamed up with her husband CJ to create a small record label “HOMOSA”. She later received a real estate license and became a member of the Pacific Southwest Association of Realtors. She loved all her grandchildren and would boast about their many accomplishments to relatives all over the states and send tons of pictures. She also enjoyed cooking, and drinking diet coke.

She was Survived by her husband, Clifford Towner; Sons Willie Thomas Jr. and Jase Anthony Thomas (Kenya Jones Thomas) and Step-daughter Cynthia Byrd. Ten grandchildren Ebonie Thomas, Darrell Thomas, Valeria Thomas, JaKeelah Thomas, JaMya Thomas, Ki'MyJala Thomas, Keenan Davis, D'Angelo Green, Ki'Angela Watson, and Damaria Watson. Six great-grandchildren Kitia D. Puryear, Zyere Puryear, Tyji M. Lyles Jr., Keenan Davis II, Damaryani Watson, and Keanu Watson. Two brothers Theodore Richardson Sr., Carl Richardson Sr. and four sisters Amelia Richardson, Carol Young, Marlene Richardson, and Scherrie Richardson. She is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives who will all cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by grandparents; Lawrence Route Sr. and Amelia Route, parents; Horace Richardson and Rosanna Route Richardson, her son; Clinton J. Carson. Brothers; Charles Frank Harris, James Brown Jr., Lawrence and Ferdinand Richardson and sister Wilma Brooks Lynch.

Funeral arrangements will be held at TIME on DATE Glen Abby Memorial Park, located at 3838 Bonita Rd San Diego, Ca.
