Mrs. Rebecca L. Hess was born on April 24, 1944 in La Grange, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Melvin Lawrence and Coy Natalie Fraley. Rebecca spent her youth in La Grange, Kentucky and graduated from Oldham County High in 1961.
On September 2, 1959 Rebecca exchanged wedding vows with Melvin Edgerton Hess Jr. in La Grange, Kentucky. Empathic and loyal, Rebecca was committed to making her new family happy. Rebecca and Melvin were blessed with four children, three daughters, La Donna Kay, Robyn Renea and Paula Lee, and one son, Frank. Another blessing for Rebecca was the gift of seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Fortunately, Rebecca enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Rebecca worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was as Project Manager of Surgical Services for Scripps. She was employed for over 40 years helping others in the health care field. She spent much of her time researching latex sensitivity and had many articles published in magazines. She taught several seminars at various medical events, including to those of Camp Pendleton.
Rebecca passed away on October 14, 2010 at Scripps Green Hospital in San Diego, California. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Melvin E. Hess Jr.; daughters La Donna Reid and Paula Hess; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; siblings Bobby (Farmer), Lawrence, John, Patricia and Sandy. She was proceeded in death by her daughter Robyn Porter and son Frank Hess. Services were held on October 20, 2010 at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
Simply stated, Rebecca was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Rebecca leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Mrs. Rebecca L. Hess.
