Mary Leta Keating McIntosh, age 72, died on Sunday, August 6, 2023, following a courageous struggle with dementia. Mary is survived by her brother, Christopher (Carol) Keating, and nephews and nieces Matthew (Jessica Beauchamp) Keating, Sean (Katie) Keating, Kathryn (David) Brayer; Mary Elizabeth Keating (Feargus Hetherington); Christine Keating (Adam Boettcher), Cynthia Keating (Craig Norris), and Dean Keating. Beloved great aunt of Colette and Clara Keating; Fiona, Declan, and Ronan Keating; and Mia Norris and Jacquelyn Brayer. Dear cousin and friend too many....
Mary was the wife of the late Richard McIntosh, and the cherished daughter of the late Frank C. Keating and the late Lois M. Keating. She was a beloved sister of the late Clifford F. (Lorene) Keating. Born in Chicago, Mary graduated from high school in Westwood, NJ. She was a graduate of Indiana University and San Diego State University and worked as a special education teacher at the Stein Education Center of the Vista Hill Foundation, San Diego, for 42 years. Mary resided in the San Diego area for nearly 50 years.
Mary delighted in lifelong friendships, the joys of family celebrations, and reading good books. She celebrated beauty in our world through expressions of nature, poetry, music, and so much more. She was a beloved companion to many pets, most recently her dogs Susie and Frieda. She will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 27 at Glen Abbey Memorial Park & Mortuary, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902 in the Orchid Pavilion, with a reception immediately following. Private inurnment of cremated remains at Glen Abbey Memorial Park & Mortuary.
