Maria Carmen Castaneda

Maria Carmen Castaneda was a modest woman, quiet and observant in her ways. She was trustworthy and traditional in her approach to her life and in her relationships. Realistic about life, she was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility.

She was the daughter of Guadalupe Cervantes y Agapita Reynoso. Maria grew up in Guadalajara, Jalisco.

Maria was raised with eight siblings, Josefina Cervantes, Simona Cervantes, Tere Cervantes, Librado Cervantes, Susana Cervantes, Guadalupe Cervantes, Rosa Cervantes and Leonor Cervantes. Maria was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.

On 1973 Maria exchanged wedding vows with Miguel V. Castaneda. Empathic and loyal, Maria was committed to making her new family happy.

Maria worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Maria was blessed with three children, one daughter, Rosa, and three sons, Juan Carlos, Jesus Guadalupe and Miguel Edward.

Fortunately, Maria enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Maria worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was as a Teacher's Aide. She was employed for 17 years by the school district. Maria always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.

Maria passed away on November 10, 2010 at Sharp Hospital in Chula Vista. Maria fought a brave battle against cancer. She is survived by her life Partner, Carlos Munoz, Her daughter, Rosa Lomeli, her sons, Miguel Castaneda Jr., Juan Carlos Castaneda and Jesus Castaneda, and Miguel Castaneda Sr. Services were held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Maria was laid to rest in Glen Abbey Memorial Park.

Simply stated, Maria was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Maria leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Maria Carmen Castaneda.
