Lynda Joanna Vanderbilt was born on September 29th, 1986 in Evanston, IL. She passed on to be with our heavenly Father on July 6th, 2014 at the age of 27. Lynda leaves with us her husband Drew Vanderbilt and their daughter Mya Ai Vanderbilt. She also leaves with us her mother Irma Medina, father Pedro Medina, grandmother Romanita Collazo, sister Dana Torres, brother Joseph Delara, niece Olivia Delara, nephew Joseph Jr. Delara, mother-in-law Deanna Vanderbilt, The Vanderbilts, and strangers who became friends and friends who became family. She will be met in heaven with open arms by her grandfather Anotnio Collazo, grandmother Aurora Correa, aunt Lorenza Collazo, and her brother Gustavo Delara.
Lynda graduated from Rolling Meadows High School before she went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps: active duty Okinawa, Japan 2006 – 2008; Twin Cities, Minnesota 2008 – 2009; and was in the reserves in the Marine Wing Communications Squadron 48 and then on to 3rd Civil Affairs Group. She received the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal during her service. Lynda went on to pursue and achieve a Bachelors of Accounting from the University of Illinois at Chicago. During her undergraduate career she was the President of Beta Alpha Psi the Theta Kappa chapter. She was pursuing her Masters of Science in Accounting as a graduate student at the University of San Diego where she continued to be an outstanding member of Beta Alpha Psi. Lynda had the opportunity to do an internship at Ernest & Young. Following the internship she was offered positions at Ernest & Young of San Diego and at Price Waterhouse Cooper of Chicago.
Lynda Joanna Vanderbilt’s viewing will be Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at The Little Chapel of Roses 3838 Bonita Rd Bonita, CA 91902-1233 with the funeral service to follow from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. Lynda will also be laid to rest at there at Glen Abbey Memorial Park.
