She was born in the Philippines, was a high school teacher in English and Mathematics, and president of a Catholic Legionary, Mary Mother of our Redeemer there. After marrying her Navy husband and childhood sweetheart Benjamin Asuncion Sr. she relocated to California ultimately presiding in San Diego, CA where she worked for the federal government for over 20 yrs supporting the Navy and Marines. She received numerous awards for her outstanding performance and was very well respected wherever she was employed. She retired as a Computer Systems Programmer and Specialist in 1994 as a civil servant for the US Navy.
She was also an officer/advisor of the Castillejos Civic Club where she was one of the last of the pioneering members. She was very faithful and was an auxiliary member of a legionary, Mary Model of Faith at Most Precious Blood Church where she attended for over 30 years.
She was a very hard working and devoted wife and mother who always tried her best to support her family and wanted the best for them despite the hardships of caring for her children when her husband was overseas as a Navy sailor, and later in life working fulltime and continuing her education. She will be missed dearly.
Survivors include her beloved son, Benjamin R. Asuncion, Jr. (Arlene/grandchildren Steven, Benny III and Sabrina (Ivan/Malakai only great grandchild) of Oxnard, CA, and daughters, Raymunda Fox (Dan/grandchildren Jackie, Jared and Thomas) of Oregon, and Marcia Ricchiuti (Paul/grandchildren Isabella and Nick) of Hawaii. Lourdes was the oldest of nine siblings of which only two remain: Rosario Alipio Limbag aka Chayong (Mago/Jun/Marie) of Milpitas, CA and Guillerma Fastidio Alipio (Tyrone/Shalymar) of Castillejos/Zambales Philippines.
