Leah Javier Romero was born August 5th, 1956 in Cavite City, Philippines and passed suddenly on February 21st, 2021 in Port Hueneme, CA. Proceeded in death by her father, Rafael Romero, she is survived by her mother, Celia Romero, three siblings Gladys Richter (Randall), Cesar Romero (Deirdre), Lee Romero (Eileen), a niece (Anna Romero) and five nephews (Tristan Richter, Max Romero, Grady Romero, Riley Romero, and Liam Romero).
Self-described on Facebook as a “mixed bag of love,” Leah was outgoing, loved entertaining and relished the company of friends. While earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from Loyola Marymount she joined and participated in both Mexican Folkloric and Hawaiian dance. Over a period of 17 years, she worked in the Medical Technology, Medical Sales, Medical Recruitment and Real Estate fields. Up until recent, Leah was a teacher for the Sweetwater Union High School District.
Leah was a devoted friend and confidant to many, but none knew of her quiet and courageous struggle with cancer. Please join our family in offering prayers on Leah’s behalf and for all those who suffer from terminal illness. May these, and all who sleep in Christ, find in your presence light, happiness, and peace. Forever in our hearts we trust and commit a beautiful soul, Leah Javier Romero, in love to God.
Song of Trust in God Alone
PSALM 62
5For God alone my soul waits in silence,
for my hope is from him.
6 He only is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
7 On God rests my deliverance and my honor;
my mighty rock, my refuge is God.
We would like to thank the firemen of Fire Station 53, Gold Coast paramedics, and all the good doctors, nurses, case managers, social workers at Dignity Health (St. John’s Regional Medical Hospital) of Oxnard, CA and VITAS Healthcare of Camarillo, CA for their excellent work and care for our sister.
Funeral mass was held Friday 11:30 am on April 9th, 2021 at Saint Pius X Catholic Church in Chula Vista, CA with Reverend Jay Bananal officiating the services. Final place of rest, Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Chula Vista, CA.
