George Petty

George Petty was born in Atlanta, Georgia, 16 February 1943 to Harold and Arie Belle Petty. George attended Henry McNeal Turner High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy 30 June 1961 and retired after 21 years of service on 30 June 1982. On 17 February 1970, George married Maxima Elizaga; one son was blessed to this union, George Petty. Monsignor Pattison Confirmed and Baptized George as a Catholic and he joined Saint Rita’s Catholic Church on 29 March 1997. George was the Janitorial and Maintenance Lead for the La Mesa Police Department from 24 December 1999 to 1 July 2010 where he finally retired from working. On 8 December 2021, George was called home to be with the Lord. He is preceded in death by his wife, Maxima; brother, Ephraim Petty; brother, Ron Petty; sister, Carolyn Brookins; sister, Fannie Collier; sister, Arabella Allen; brother, Harold Petty; brother, Leon Petty. George is survived by his son, George Petty and grandchild, Ava Petty and a host of other extended family and friends.

A visitation for George will be held Sunday, January 2, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Glen Abbey's "Little Chapel of the Roses", 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, California 91902. A funeral service will occur Monday, January 3, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St Rita's Catholic Church, 5124 Churchward St, San Diego, California 92114. A graveside service will occur Monday, January 3, 2022 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, California 92126.
