Douglas Allen Rankin was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Douglas will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Douglas was born on February 13, 1988 in Lander Wyoming. He was the son of Nelson and Cynthia Rankin. Douglas grew up in Chula Vista, California. Douglas was raised with one sibling, his brother Michael. Douglas was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his sibling, and they shared many life experiences over the years.
A typical teenager, Douglas had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. In 2007, he graduated from Lutheran High School in Chula Vista, California. He enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers.
Douglas enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were music, off-roading, disc golf, karaoke, and sci-fi. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Douglas passed away on October 8, 2013 in San Diego, California. He is survived by his parents Nelson and Cynthia Rankin, his brother Michael Rankin, his uncle and aunt, Chuck and Kathy Campbell, and his cousins Alex and Daniel Campell.
Services were held at the Little Chapel of the Roses in Bonita, California, on Monday, October 14, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Douglas was laid to rest in Glen Abbey Memorial Park, Bonita, California, Monday, October 14, 2013.
Simply stated, Douglas was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Douglas leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Douglas Allen Rankin.
