A native of San Diego, Clara lived nearly all of her years enjoying the California sun. She graduated from Castle Park High School in 1967. She worked at Harveys bakery in Chula Vista for a few years before settling in at California First/Union Bank for a career in banking, which lasted more than 30 years, until her retirement in 2009.
Clara loved to travel, especially to nearby Peoria for Padres Spring Training- a trip she made faithfully for more than a quarter of a century with her children. A lifelong Charger and Padre fan; she counted witnessing Steve Garvey’s game winning playoff homer in 1984 at Jack Murphy Stadium as one of her most treasured sports moments.
Clara passed away on October 5th, 2024 at her home in Chula Vista, California surrounded by her family. Clara is survived by her children, Rachel Carpenter and Raul Bogue, her sisters, Angela Boyer and Esther DeLaVega and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Clara’s celebration of life will be held at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California on Friday, October 25th, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. Clara will be laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Park near her father, Raul Martinez and sister, Rosalie Lollar.
