Carol Mae (Stephenson) Holm left this world for the next on Wednesday, 10/9/2013 after a courageous 33 year battle with breast cancer. While her family grieves our loss of her presence in our lives, we rejoice for her that she no longer has to fight the battle and endure the pain and even more, that she is now in the presence of God and her savior, Jesus.
She was born April 16, 1939 in Pelican Rapids, MN. She was the youngest of three siblings. At an early age she was given the nickname Tootsie and carried it with her the rest of her life, including by grandchildren who used that name in place of “grandma”.
She married Marvin Holm of Rollag, MN on June 21, 1957. In October 1958, their first Daughter, Denee’ was born, followed two years later by Theresa (Terrie), and eight years later by Dale. She and her young family settled in Chula Vista a little more than 50 years ago, where they continued to reside until her passing. She and Marvin (and the kids until they were adults) made annual summer trips back to Minnesota where they continued to nurture the relationships they held dear. In retirement these trips stretched into three to four month journeys.
Carol was full of laughter, life, and love. She loved people and absolutely loved being with family and friends. Her family loved her deeply and will greatly miss her. She was an inspiration to us all throughout her life and battle. She was surrounded by her family the last few days of her life loving on her and loving and supporting each other.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Marvin Holm; her daughters Denée Felber and Theresa (Terrie) Gooch; grandchildren Jeremy Felber, Christian Felber, Bryn Felber, Josiah Felber, Derek Murray, Dana Murray, Deanne Murray, and Cody Holm; step-grandchildren Joshalynn DeGolier, Jenna Esget, and Cameron Bryant; great-grandchildren Liam Felber, Jack Felber, Samson DeGolier, Amber Rose Esget, and Aydan Esget; and sister Betty Ishaug. She is preceded in death by her beloved son Dale and brother Richard Stephenson.
