A New Jersey native, Bob moved to Winding River Plantation in 2003 following a 29-year career in the private sector. Bob concluded his career in customer service and logistics management with M&M Mars Incorporated at the corporate headquarters. Bob was a passionate baseball fan, stemming from childhood memories attending and watching Yankees games with his grandfather. This affinity for the sport remained with him all his life. With his beloved wife, Valerie, Bob spent his latter years traveling extensively, with a particular fondness for Italy due to his appreciation for the food, culture, and history. An avid history buff, Bob particularly enjoyed studying military history with an emphasis on the American Civil War, World War II, and Vietnam.
In his post-retirement life, Bob worked at the Brunswick County Community College to teach GED courses. A lovely soul, Bob derived tremendous gratification from helping the underprivileged and observing the successes of others. However, Bob’s greatest love was family, as he was a devoted husband, loving father, and wonderful grandfather. Bob is fondly remembered as “Coach Bob” by many due to his many years coaching pop Warner football and little league baseball.
Bob is survived by his wife, Val, daughter, Amanda, son, Mike, and five grandchildren: Bennett, Davis,
Corbin, Reese, and Grant. Bob is further survived by his son-in-law, Joel, and daughter-in-law, Becca, who loved him dearly.
A man of many titles: “Bob”, “Bobby”, “Dad”, “Poppy”, and “Popeye”, you will be sorely missed and forever loved by many.
