Richard Pierce Brown, 79, of Bolivia, NC, passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2024. He was born on September 16, 1944, in Providence, Rhode Island to Pierce B. Brown and Lois Gordnier. Richard was a respected and thoughtful member of the Winding River Plantation community where he was an active member of the Carolina National Golf Club.
Richard graduated from Granville High School in Granville, OH, and pursued higher education at Boston University where he developed a lifelong passion for sailing. Professionally, Richard dedicated many years to the transportation and rail industry, recently serving as the Senior Vice President at Transpo Industries in New Rochelle, NY, and previously 13 years at Owens Corning in Toledo, OH.
An avid golfer, Richard was proud of achieving a "Hole In One" in the fall of 2023. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening, hobbies that allowed him to appreciate the outdoors and stay active.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother Lois and father Pierce B. Brown.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Sandra of Bolivia, NC; sons, Jeffrey Brown (Kara Callahan) of Haddon Heights, NJ, and Peter Brown (Amy Berg) of Woonsocket, RI; sisters, Susan Lamson of Granville, OH, and Cassandra Morton of Lakewood, OH; nieces, Sarah Lamson of Columbus, OH, and Alex Lamson of Granville, OH; and grandchildren, Dylan and Elena of Haddon Heights, NJ.
Family and friends are invited to gather and pay their respects at White Funeral Home, 603 Ocean HWY E, Bolivia, NC, on Sunday, July 28. Visiting will begin at 1pm with a brief service to follow at 2pm.
