Max was born on July 21, 1937, the son of the late Ramon Garcia and Pura Hernandez, in Guines, Cuba. He is also preceded in death by his wife of fifty-five years, Sylvia Elena Garcia.
Max and Sylvia raised their family in Fairfax, VA. Max loved his 4 daughters dearly. He enjoyed having parties at his home with lots of music, dancing, and wonderful Cuban food. He would drum on the Tumbadoras while Sylvia played the Spanish Guitar and their 4 girls danced in Spanish Flamenco dresses. He had a beautiful pool built and all summer he could be found outside grilling for everyone that visited. After coming to the United States he attended George Washington University and later joined the Organization of American States where he was employed for over 35 years in the Accounting Department. After retiring from the OAS, Max and Sylvia moved to Sarasota, FL where they resided for over 20 years. Max loved the white sandy beaches of Siesta Key which reminded him of Cuba.

Torres and husband, Luis of Bolivia, NC, Maria Herring and husband, Chip of Alexandria, VA, Laura Burns and husband, Tony of Plainfield, and Monica Walker of Kyle, TX. Also, seven grandchildren, Clint, Kyle, Amanda, Devin, Gabriella, Alexandra, and Nicholas. Great-grandchildren, Logan, Beckett, and Finn.
