Linda and family, I worked with Bill for many years at Bell South Engineering.  He was a wonderful and caring person who loved you all dearly. So sorry for your loss.

I just heard of Bills death. What sad news . He was a smashing person to work with in the old Block days. Always had a smile on his face. He was a real gentleman and I'm so sorry for your loss Linda.

I was so saddened to hear about Bill's passing. We worked together in his early days with H&R Block and then I would see him at EA meetings later. It was always such a pleasure. He was a warm and wonderful man. My prayers go out to Linda and the family.

Bill was such a gret human being.  I went from grade school thru high school with Bill.  Always a sile on hisw face and even though I have not seen my classmate for many years, he was a stand-up guy.  I sat near him in school because myn last name was Petraglia now(Ferrero) Gail.  May he rest in peace and know that his wife-Linda anf family are in my thoughts and prayers.

From the first day I met Bill, back in 1958 at Central Catholic High School, I could see that he was an excellent student and above all, a friend to all.
 
It is a privilege to have known him and when we spoke at our 50th graduation anniversary, he was so pleased to meet and greet all attendees. He wanted to make sure that everyone was having a great time. Our prayers are for Linda and all his family.

Bill was one of those rare people who inspired others to be like him. He was the epitome of integrity and kindness...a true gentleman who brought out the best in everyone around him. I was honored to have been a colleague and will forever miss him at NAEA gatherings. Sincere condolences to Bill's wife and family; may your memories be filled with the joy and laughter Bill so generously gave the world.

Bill was an inspiration to us all.  His level headednesss, dedication and leadership to the orgainzation will be remembered and held out as an example for others to follow.  

He will also be remembered for his service to our country as a United States Marine.  He proudly wore his Marine lapel pin and never missed an opportunity to talk with and thank younger members of the military he happened to run onto on the streets of Washington, DC.  He also managed to chide me that, while I had served in the United States Navy, I had not really done my service to the country as he had.  An old saying, "Once a Marine, Always a Marine" is a true statement when remembering Bill.

Bill was also a devout Christian and family man and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family in this time of sorrow.

Bill was a hero to our country, our NAEA organization and to all, whoose lives he touched.  He was first and foremost a gentleman of the highest caliber--a "great" man.  He will be missed by his family and his community. But Bill fought the "good fight", and God will be gracious that HIS beloved son, Bill, is home in His arms.

Bill and his contributions to the NAEA have been a huge inspiration to me.  I am so sorry that he will not be here to provide his infinite wisdom and thoughtful evaluations relative to Enrolled Agents.  He was a great EA and will be missed so very much.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, Linda.

Bill, thanks for all the attention you gave us kids when we played soccer. Those were some great times...

If you were to look up "Servent Leader" in the dictionary, you'd see a picture of Bill Payne.  Linda you are a blessed woman to have had him by your side for so many years.  His faith was tangible to all he touched and I know that when the time comes we'll all be together again.

I can't stop crying.  I will miss Bill so terribly.  He always made sure everyone felt so special and loved.
