Sandra was born on April 3, 1941 in Berwick, PA to the late Fred and Kathryn. She was preceded in death by her much beloved and dearly missed husband, George Cook in 2008.
Sandra graduated from North Arlington High School, NJ in 1958 and then received her nursing degree from Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing in Montclair, New Jersey in 1961. She worked as a surgical and pediatric nurse during her career at various hospitals in Miami, New Jersey and New York City.
After a chance meeting at the Jersey Shore, George and Sandra fell in love and then made it official in 1966, spending 42 loving years together. Their full lives took them from New Jersey, Florida, Illinois and finally returning to Florida where she resided in Longwood for 37 years before relocating to Boca Raton in 2023. Many weekends were spent traveling and watching their three children compete in assorted sporting events including swimming, baseball, tennis and golf.
Sandra enjoyed spending time out on the water with her family and would never pass up an opportunity to throw out a line and see what might be nibbling that day. She was particularly fond of fishing in the Florida Keys. She loved her travels all over but especially enjoyed her time spent in Ireland with her sisters, Patricia and Deborah. She was an avid reader, often poring through several novels in a month. She enjoyed keeping up with her large extended family and could happily spend hours chatting on the phone hearing the latest news.
Sandra built a loving family with George that extended to each of their three children and four grandchildren. She is survived by Laura and her husband Andrew Sheehy of Parkland, FL, William Cook and his wife Kathie of Sammamish, WA and Alyson and her husband Adam Fuchs of Atlanta, GA. Sandra was incredibly proud of her four grandchildren, Alyson and Elizabeth Sheehy, Jonathan Cook and Sadie Fuchs. She loved being a part of their lives.
Sandra will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral mass on October 12th, 2024 at 11:00 am at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church located at 5980 N University Drive, Parkland, FL. 33067.
