Robert Wilton Jennings, Jr., a longtime resident of Boca Raton passed away on January 20, 2023 at the age of 83. Bob was a US Navy veteran and achieved the rank of Captain US Naval Reserve. He was born in Brunswick, Missouri and lived his early life in the midwest and moved with his family to San Diego where he graduated from Hoover High School in 1957. In 1961 Bob graduated from Dartmouth College, went to OCS and spent 4 years on active duty in the USN. Later he earned an MBA from UCLA.
After active duty, Bob continued in the Navy Reserve until he retired. In the mid 1960s, he worked for Bank of America in California where he met the love of his life Mary Lou, and they married in LA in 1967. He began his career at IBM in southern California and later transferred to Atlanta, Raleigh, Tokyo, and Boca Raton. Throughout his career at IBM he was a financial analyst, controller and executive financial officer. After many years at IBM he retired.
Throughout their time together, Bob and Mary Lou were avid tennis and bridge players and belonged to various clubs in the Boca Raton area. Later, after Mary Lou passed, Bob became a Master Gardener and donated his time to various gardens in the area. He was a lifetime member of the Friends of the Deerfield Beach Arboretum and the Tropical Flowering Tree Society of Palm Beach County. Bob kept up with is old friends in the Navy and attended many reunions over the years.
Bob is survived by his siblings: Sylvia Moore (Round Rock, TX), Anne Peacock (Vancouver, WA), Lynn Malik (Los Angeles, CA), Charlie Jennings (Fremont, CA) and many nieces and nephews throughout the US. The family appreciates all the loving care and assistance Mary Hillman has provided her friend Bob in his final days.
