Nicholas Albert Pignatelli born July 22, 1939 died on March 07, 2017. Born in Manhattan, New York to Nicholas Pignatelli and Rose Lettera and raised in a large loving Italian-American family. There he learned love, loyalty, and respect, the value of keeping the family close no matter what. Those are the values he lived his entire life by. He joined the United States Marines at age 16 and has always been very proud of his service to his country. After his military service he worked in the construction industry, helping to build Rockefeller Center. Subsequently, he moved to Florida marrying his childhood sweetheart Joanne Survillo Corbisiero and was blessed to become a father to Denise, Renee, and Anthony. Soon after, they were overjoyed to add Kathryn Rose to their family.
In Florida, he worked for Duffy and Lee, where he met David Krasnipol… A few years later Nick & David Carpet Workroom was created. A very successful company, known for their expertise, they were sought out by the finest decorators and literally traveled the world performing their craft.
In 1986 he married Marlene Moyers Steinberg, adding Dawn (Chrissie) and Laurie to the children of his heart. After moving to Coral Springs, Florida, Nicholas and Talia were born.
In summing up Nick’s life a friend recently said “The world has quite possibly lost the best guy we could all ever know.” Nick had the biggest heart and wasn’t afraid to show it. He drew people in with his true caring and love. He could make just about anyone laugh.
After retiring, Nick reached out to others by volunteering at Boca Helping Hands. He was very proud of being named volunteer of the year for his division.
He had a hand in raising eight children. No matter whether they were his own blood, he loved them all each as his own. It’s a testimony of his love for family that all eight love him unconditionally and think of him as their dad. His example, efforts, and love have made all close, as one big blended family. With children, spouses, grandchildren, and the first great grandchild he has a family of twenty-seven he called his own.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Rose, and his sister Elizabeth (Betty). He is survived by his wife Marlene and his children Denise, Renee, and Anthony Corbisiero, Kathryn Pignatelli, Dawn and Laurie Steinberg, and Nicholas and Talia Pignatelli. Also survived by his sister Filomena (Fay) Scuoppo her husband Gabriel and their children Matthew, Nicholas, and Gabriel.
Although devastated by this loss, we know that his love for God was firm and that he could leave this world with one of his favorite sayings “I ain’t scared.”
In lieu of flowers for anyone wishing to honor Nick, he would be so pleased if donations were sent to Boca Helping Hands at 1500 NW 1st Court, Boca Raton, FL 33432.
Arrangements under the direction of Babione-Kraeer Funeral Home, Boca Raton, FL.
