He was born November 1, 1924, in Amsterdam, the son of the late Samuel and Elizabeth Inzinna Pepe Sr. He was a longtime Amsterdam resident and later on moved to Boca Raton FL. in 1976 with his loving wife Carmella Calisant Pepe where they lived the remainder of their lives. He was a 1942 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam N.Y.
Jimmy proudly served in the U.S. Navy in 1942 during World War II in the Pacific Theater and saw action in the Salomon Islands, Bougainville campaign, as a Navy Corpsman and was awarded a Bronze Star for meritorious service in a combat zone. Honorably discharged in 1945.
He was involved in the restaurant business throughout his life, Pepe's Restaurant, Jimmy Pepe's cafe, and others. He was an active member of AA for over 60 years in Amsterdam N.Y. and Boca Raton FL. He helped many people on the road to recovery. Jimmy was a member of the St. Agnello Club, Knights of Columbus, Amsterdam and the DAV and the American Legion in Boca Raton FL. He loved cooking and cooking for others especially. He also enjoyed traveling to Sicily with his brother John to visit his cousins.
He was married in 1946 to Carmella Calisant Pepe for 66 years and she predeceased him, passing on March 31, 2012. Survivors are one son, Jerry Pepe of Boca Raton FL., one brother Joseph Pepe, Amsterdam N.Y. Cherished Grandchildren, Tom Pepe of Colleyville TX., Danny Pepe (Gabby ), Playa Vista CA. and Victoria Pepe, Colleyville TX. Three Great grandchildren, Tom Pepe Jr., Gianna Pepe, and Leonardo Pepe. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his eldest son Tom Pepe in 1974 and recently predeceased by his brother, John J. Pepe, Sam Pepe, and a sister, Salvina (Pepe) Fischetti.
Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Boca Raton Cemetery, Boca Raton, FL.
