Trudeann Dalton

Trudeann Zatkovich Dalton, 73, of Bloomington, IN; formerly from Copake, NY, passed away on September 21, 2023, after a battle with cancer. On August 17, 1950, Trude was the firstborn to John Joseph and Joan Zatkovich of Yonkers, New York where they resided for many years and raised their family. Trude attended Yonkers schools and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1968.

Trude’s professional career revolved around all things computers. She worked for many years at M.I.T. in Cambridge, Mass. After moving back home she worked at IBM in New York. One of her many areas of expertise involved the Y2K Glitch; one major concern was that electronics would not be able to compute dates after 12/31/1999. And yes, Trude spent New Year’s Eve December 31, 1999, ever vigilant to do whatever it took to save the day and repair our busy computerized world.

Trude married Tom Dalton on April 28, 2001. They moved to Copake, NY for the tranquility and peace of the country. Together, they enjoyed watching the races and going to the gun range. After losing her beloved husband, Trude moved to Bloomington, Indiana to be closer to her niece Kayla Lyons, nephew Stephen Borecky, and sister Diana Cimmer.

Trude was an avid gardener and would spend hours in her garden. She was a huge believer in Jesus Christ and always left everyone with a "Jesus loves you". Trude never knew a stranger and had so much gratitude for those who were in her life. Even though Trude never had children, her nieces and nephews were her greatest joy, especially her great-nephew Otto, whom she loved very much.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tom, mother Joan, father John, mother-in-law Anne Dalton and brother-in-law Robert Dalton.

Trude is survived by her brother John (Kathy) Zatkovich, her sister Diana (Jay) Cimmer, nieces Kayla (Josh) Lyons, and Stephanie Zatkovich, nephews Matthew Zatkovich, and Stephen Borecky, her Great-nephew Otto Ray Lyons. Sister-in-law Nancy Dalton, Brother-in-law Richard Dalton, Stepdaughters Debra Dalton and Helena Dalton, Step-granddaughter Sophia, and numerous cousins, one of whom she was especially close to Judy Hartley.
