Steven Allen Long, age 54, of Bloomington went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning (02/22/2020) at the I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospice House. He was born on March 23, 1965 in New Albany, Indiana to Nellie (Bruce) Long, of Bloomington and the late James Long. Steve graduated from Bloomington High School South, Class of 1983. After high school he worked at Lake Monroe. In 1987, his brother Greg helped him get a job at Bloomington Hospital. He continued as a telecommunications specialist there until 2013. In 2017 he began working for The Eye Center of Southern Indiana. Steve found so much joy in the staff and physicians. They truly became family, for which he was so grateful.
Steve loved spending time with his family. He and his son, Nick, enjoyed sports, archery and racing together. He loved all kinds of music and was a whiz at music trivia.
In addition to his mother, Steve is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Diann (Sebree) Long, his loving son, Nick Long; two brothers, Gary (Lynn) Long, of Cincinnati, Ohio and Brian (Debby) Long of Bloomington; three nieces, Jessica (Aaron) Posey, of Ellettsville, Karin Long, of Chicago, Illinois and Ellie Long, of Cincinnati, Ohio; two nephews, Max Long, of Cincinnati and Jeremy Long, of Ellettsville. Steve is also survived by a great-niece, Savanna Posey and great- nephews, Landen and Scotty Long and Owen and Bennett Posey . Steve was preceded in death by his father and older brother, Greg Long.
Please help us celebrate his life during a visitation on Monday (02/24/2020) from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel; 700 W. Gourley Pike and on Tuesday from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Joe Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the American Cancer Society.
