Sharon Kay Ayres, 81, of Bloomington passed away peacefully June 18, 2023. She was born October 16, 1941 in Brown County to Leslie Deckard and Erlena Owens Deckard. She was retired from Monroe County Community School Corporation. Survivors include her husband, James Ayres; siblings, Jeffrey Deckard (Cathy), Curtis Deckard (Shelly) and Lana Wrightsman (Eddie); two children Shannon Baker (Arvin), Shawn MacLean (Kelli); four grandchildren, Timothy Baker (Tiffany), Chelsey MacLean(Jordan), Ashley Simmons (Travis) and Dawson Baker; 9 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; and a sister Faye Lynn Deckard. She worked for MCCSC for 56 years, she was very active in the community, serving on the Monroe County Fair Board of Directors for 20 years, she was a 4-H leader for The Girls Wide Awake 4-H club for 33 years, she was a member of the sorority Lambda Chi Omega (Beta Beta chapter) for 17 years and was a member of the Monroe County Domestic Engineers home ec club for 6 years. She loved being involved in the community and will be greatly missed. Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, June 26, 2023 at 1:00 PM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 East Third Street, with Pastor Bruce Bond Officiating; burial will follow in Duncan Cemetery.
