Karen was born on December 4th 1958 in LaGrange Illinois to Wendell and Elaine Anderson. The family relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1960.
Karen grew up in the diverse neighborhood on North Broadway avenue in the Meridian Kessler area of Indianapolis. She started her work career in high school as an independent house painter and at Pier One to earn money for college.
Karen attended Purdue University and earned her Bachelors of Arts Degree with a focus on interior design. As part of her degree program, she completed a semester of study in Copenhagen, Denmark. While in Denmark, she traveled extensively through Europe.
After graduation from Purdue, she worked at Kittle's furniture in Indianapolis and then as a professional framer with Frame Makers. Karen reconnected with her future husband Art in 1984. They purchased a house on Lake Lemon in the fall of 1986 and were married on September 2nd 1989 at Camp Dellwood in Indianapolis. Karen and Art enjoyed life at Lake Lemon and worked on renovating their house. Karen worked at Carl's Art Studio in Bloomington, IN until June 1997.
Karen and Art were blessed with the birth of their daughter Annalise on June 28th, 1997. Karen focused on raising Annalise and they were active with the Girl Scout unit at Marlin Elementary School. Karen was the Arts Director at Waycross Summer Camp for several years. In recent years, Karen enjoyed gardening, jewelry making and other crafts.
Karen was preceded in death by both parents, Wendell and Elaine Anderson.
Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Arthur Haldeman of Unionville, IN, daughter Annalise Haldeman of Bloomington IN and brother Kevin Anderson of Greenville SC, along with her Anderson and Meyer cousins and the large community of friends she made over the years.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a future date.
